Brexit is bad for your health, especially if you have cancer. That’s the conclusion from a report titled “Nothing Should Stand In The Way”. The paper, from Cancer Research UK (CRUK), details how the manner in which Britain left the European Union has done just that – stood in the way of the best possible cancer research and care for UK patients. Importing new cancer drugs now costs almost four times as much. For some trials, shipping costs have increased tenfold.

The BBC’s headline on its interview with the chancellor made what she said sound vaguely controversial: “Reeves suggests UK trade with EU more important than US”. In fact, Rachel Reeves’s statement was a no-brainer. We do more than 41% of our trade with the EU, another 5% with the EEA and Switzerland and just 13.5% with the United States. There is no “suggests” about it – it is absolute fact that for the UK, trading with Europe is more than 3 times more important to the UK than trade with America.

The news was pretty inevitable ahead of the Brexit reset summit next month, because the EU was insisting tht a mobility scheme had to be done as a sign of good faith.

Headlines in the US and in the financial and economic press across the world are dominated by a single question: can the president fire the head of the Federal Reserve? Will Trump sack Jay Powell, the head of the USA’s central bank, the person in charge of US interest rate policy, and whose job it is to control inflation? And why does Trump want to get rid of him? Inflation is a horrendous problem.

Having flicked through Twitter last night for one final time I found nothing but bigotry, racism, stupidity, conspiracy theories, street fighting and porn. Bye bye

You won’t regret it - great fun.

Economic doom loop continues thanks to @RachelReevesMP unfunded tax rises. Until Britain rediscovers the Laffer curve and cuts tax, regulation and the state - we are in dire trouble.
