I’ll admit I was a little nervous about reviewing The Hundred Line – Last Defence Academy. Considering my experience with the last experience with a Too Kyo Game, I was worried similar issues would impede my enjoyment, but seeing this game take the form of a Fire Emblem-style turn-based strategy game certainly put some of those worries to bed.

Playing Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate for the purposes of this review made me realize two things. First, I don’t think I was ever aware of Phantom Breaker. I think that may be forgivable, though—I mean, how many of you reading this review have heard of it before now? I’ve probably mentioned before that, despite always liking them, I was never a big fighting game aficionado, lacking the skill to play games like Street Fighter or Tekken at higher levels.

I’ll admit, I didn’t think much of Rusty Rabbit when I first saw it on the Nintendo eShop. If I’m brutally honest, it was the thumbnail, veering a bit too close to those AI-generated thumbnails that accompany the hack garbage that typifies the Nintendo eShop nowadays. But it was this same kind of flippancy that genuinely made me interested in reviewing it when the option came up—was there more to this game than it was letting on? The answer is…kind of.
