Three Senoia residents are running to fill the city's vacant council seat. On March 18, Councilmember Tracy Brady resigned from the Senoia City Council; since then the position has remained vacant. When voters go to the polls, they will see Andrew Lowe, Aaron Schilke and Shelley Kiley on the ballot. Andrew LoweLowe was born in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. His mother was a teacher and his father was a police officer.

After stepping away from the team his sophomore year and redshirting, Brandon Tolvert earned his redshirt sophomore year at Tarleton State. During the 2023 season, Tolvert led the team in total tackles with 36 and 18 solos, which helped him earn preseason All-Conference recognition going into the 2024 season. “It’s an opportunity of a lifetime from where I come from.” Tolvert said.

The Coweta County community rallied to raise money for the Lonas family, who lost their 2-year-old son, Zander in late August. On Sept. 5 during a Northgate volleyball game, the life of Zander Lonas was honored, and all of the night's proceeds were donated to the grieving family. According to Brian Coursey of the Northgate Volleyball Booster Club, the exact amount raised is not finalized yet but the goal of $5,000 raised was exceeded.

In an emotional night for Northgate as they honored the Lonas family after they lost their newborn, Zander, to Leukemia recently, the Lady Vikings went 2-0 on the night. Going into the games, the Northgate volleyball team had a little momentum after defeating Stars Mill and Whitewater the week before putting them at 11-8 on the season. Northgate looked to keep their winning streak alive as they hosted Columbus and Trinity.

Dax Kilby may not have been born with a baseball glove on his hand, but it wasn’t much longer before the game became his life. Kilby, a senior shortstop at Newnan High School, has committed to play baseball at Clemson University while receiving phone calls from MLB scouts. According to Kilby’s father, Brian Kilby, it’s been his son’s dream to play in the Major Leagues and just play baseball as long as possible. “He’s always loved the game of baseball,” Brian Kilby said.
