The federal government will transition to electronic payments as it stops issuing paper checks for Social Security and tax refunds by September 30, 2025. Less than 1% of Social Security recipients in Ohio and the U.S. still receive paper checks. Recipients can switch to electronic payments via the Social Security Administration website, their bank, or by phone. The government will soon switch to electronic payments for Social Security checks and tax refunds.

The U.S. and China reached a trade agreement after a weekend of negotiations, following recently imposed tariffs by both countries. Prior to the agreement, the U.S. had imposed tariffs of 124.1% on Chinese goods, a significant increase from 20.8% at the start of 2025. China had implemented retaliatory tariffs of 147.6% on U.S. goods, up from 21.2% at the beginning of the year.
