The 2025 NHL draft is a huge one for the Flyers' rebuild. Not only does Danny Briere have a lot of high-round picks at his disposal, but he also could be creative in how he uses them. "There are all kinds of possibilities here," the Flyers' general manager said in April. "I think it's really exciting going into it. It's powerful to have so many picks like that.

It's official. The sign was removed. Crews were seen at (what was previously called) the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday, June 5 taking down the sign as the arena prepares to be renamed to Xfinity Mobile Arena. The naming rights of the venue will change at the start of September, Comcast Spectacor and Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment announced back in May. The new deal runs through the 2030-31 seasons for the Flyers and the Sixers.

The Flyers hired Jay Varady as an assistant coach Thursday, along with Yogi Svejkovsky. With Rick Tocchet and the Canucks, Svejkovsky oversaw the club's power play in 2024-25. You can read more about him here. Varady worked under Tocchet as an assistant coach in 2020-21. That was Tocchet's final season with the Coyotes. The 47-year-old Varady also served as the head coach of Arizona's AHL affiliate Tucson for three seasons.

Rick Tocchet has found one of his assistant coaches. Yogi Svejkovsky, who worked with Tocchet at the head coach's previous stop, officially joined the Flyers' staff Thursday. The 48-year-old coached under Tocchet for the last three seasons with the Canucks. In 2024-25, Svejkovsky oversaw Vancouver's 15th-ranked power play, which ran at 22.5 percent. If Svejkovsky is tasked with running the Flyers' power play, he'll have his work cut out for him.
