PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team was picked to finish sixth in the 2025 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) preseason poll that was released on Wednesday afternoon. Defending conference champion UW-Oshkosh was voted to finish atop the standings, with the Titans entering the season ranked fourth in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III poll.

Contrary to what has been observed in the United States in recent months, Canadian milk does not contain fragments of the H1N5 virus responsible for bird flu. Analyses by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) have shown that none of the 600 milk samples sold in retail stores on Canadian soil contain particles of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). In early May, the Canadian government announced the introduction of additional protective measures against HPAI.

The Bloc Québécois wants the federal government to allow advance applications for medical assistance in dying (MAID) for people suffering from a cognitive neurodegenerative disorder such as Alzheimer’s. He plans to present a corresponding bill in the House of Commons on Wednesday. Quebec has already passed a law allowing people with serious degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s to apply for medical assistance in dying and to receive that treatment once their condition worsens.
