Oscar Piastri’s Chinese Grand Prix was a damage-limitation race for him and his team in the second half of it. While his teammate secured P2 and stood on the podium, Piastri managed to hold off Lewis Hamilton and finish in P8. The Melbourne born driver’s race turned in an instant. As Daniel Ricciardo was rear-ended by Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll during the restart, the RB F1 car gently touched the rear of the MCL38, leaving Piastri with diffuser damage.

Fred Vasseur joined Ferrari as their team principal last year and it wasn’t a smooth ride for him and the team. They had a very difficult start to the campaign where the 2023 package was extremely tough to handle for both their drivers. Nonetheless, the only non-Red Bull victory in 2023 was Carlos Sainz’s in Singapore. Ferrari made clear progress as the season went on, too.
