2 METHODS Ethical approval and animal studies All animal studies were in compliance with the Guide and Use of Laboratory Animals and were approved by the University of Utah, Veteran's Affairs Medical Center – Salt Lake City (VAMC-SLC). Young 2.7 ± 0.0 mo C57BL/6J male mice (N = 12) were obtained from Charles River Inc. Old 27.3 ± 0. 2 mo C57Bl/6J mice (N = 12) were obtained from the National Institute of Aging colony maintained by Charles River Inc.
