LA won the trade as soon as it happened. The Los Angeles Lakers struck gold when Nico Harrison agreed to trade Luka Doncic to Hollywood in exchange for Anthony Davis. It's a trade Rob Pelinka would do a million times over without thinking twice. Doncic not only answers the question of what the Lakers will do post-LeBron, but he has also elevated LA's chances of winning a title with LeBron before he retires.

Really? There is no one like Nikola Jokic. Denver Nuggets fans realized that early on, and it took the rest of the NBA a little longer to catch up. He went from being drafted during a Taco Bell commercial to winning the regular-season MVP award three times, leading the Nuggets to their first-ever title, and taking home the 2023 NBA Finals MVP award. Oh, and he's only 30. You can argue that Jokic should win his fourth MVP.

Momentum killer. It would've been huge for the Denver Nuggets to send the series back to LA up 2-0, but that didn't happen on Monday. Instead, the Nuggets took a page out of the Clippers' book from Game 1, which resulted in a 105-102 Game 2 loss. Los Angeles turned the ball over 20 times in Game 1 (subscription required), and Denver capitalized on that with 29 points in a 112-110 overtime win. The Nuggets finished with 11 turnovers. Ironically, on Monday, the script flipped.

What happened in New York no longer matters. The Minnesota Timberwolves went from reaching the Western Conference Finals last season to potentially being a Play-In Tournament team the following season. It took a while to get used to no longer having Karl-Anthony Towns and instead having Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo. Things reached a point where flipping Randle and/or DiVincenzo seemed like it could be a real possibility, but Minnesota didn't do anything before the deadline.

Denver finished the season on a three-game winning streak. The Denver Nuggets did the unthinkable and fired head coach Michael Malone and GM Calvin Booth with three games remaining in the regular season. People knew Malone could be dismissed during the summer if the Nuggets were an early playoff exit, but nobody expected it to happen so soon. Booth didn't sign the extension he thought he was getting, so while the Kroenkes' decision to move on from him wasn't necessarily surprising, the timing was.
