1. IntroductionIn recent decades, mutations in the city centre have been particularly intense as low-cost flights have become popular and changing places is easier (specially for countries within the eurozone and under the Maastricht treaty), while digital platforms facilitate travel and accommodation. As a consequence, especially historical, cultural, and environmental attractive old cities appeal to visitors and all kinds of city users.
