And that is Roy Punungwe who has Managing Director of Old Mutual Life Assurance Company. The Zimbabwean was at the end of last week treated to a dinner at the end of five year stay in Malawi. The role has now been handed to Mark Mikwamba, according to the company.

The National Bank of Malawi (NBM) has signed a US$100mn trade finance facility with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in a deal partly designed to help overcome a shortage of confirming banks. The facility is Afreximbank’s largest trade facilitation deal in the country to date, and will be used by NBM to finance trade in the manufacturing, energy and agriculture sectors, Afreximbank says.

Malawi is among 14 countries that, on Wednesday, voted no to a UN General Assembly resolution demanding that Israel complies with the ruling of the UN court and withdraw from the occupied territory of Palestine. The resolution was adopted after it received 124 votes in favor, while 43 countries abstained and Israel, the United States and 12 others, including Malawi, voted no.

CFAO Mobility Malawi has made a donation of funds amounting to MK2.6 Million as assistance towards a call by Beit Cure Malawi for  life-changing surgeries on children. Beit CURE Malawi’s Director of Programs Davie Simengwa said the donation will go a mile in ensuring that the exercise is conducted to its fullest while hailing CFAO Mobility for the gesture. According to Simengwa, they still need MK 151 million out of the budgeted MK 210 million for the exercise.
