    The Little Rock Board of Directors on Tuesday voted to annex approximately 783 acres in the area of the Port of Little Rock and zone the land for heavy industrial use. The move is meant to facilitate construction of a new Amazon facility as well as an anticipated data center to be constructed by an unknown company. Annexation will allow the developers to access municipal services. The land to be annexed is located east of Fourche Bayou, roughly between Zeuber Road and Harper Road.

    The Little Rock Board of Directors voted to confirm Delphone Hubbard, the city's fire chief and currently the acting city manager, to the position permanently following an executive session on Tuesday. The vote was 7-1, with two city directors absent. City Director Lance Hines voted no on Hubbard's appointment. Mayor Frank Scott Jr. told reporters after the meeting adjourned that Hubbard was not among the applicants for the position.

    HILLSDALE COUNTY — The Hillsdale Daily News will begin naming two athletes as the postseason playoff MVPs for the baseball and softball spring sports season. The inaugural 2025 postseason playoff MVP picks are two seniors that play for the Reading Ranger baseball and softball teams. Drew Elder and Maggie Santure helped lead their respective teams to the lone district championships won in Hillsdale County this spring.

    Jon Honeywell, who served as the director of the Little Rock Public Works Department for over 10 years, has stepped down. Honeywell, 55, joined the city in 2005 as a civil engineer. He holds degrees in microbiology and civil engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He became an assistant director within the department in 2012, according to city records. The following year, Honeywell was named the department's interim director following the resignation of former director Steve Beck.
