IntroductionWhen we trained as physicians, the mainstays of cancer treatment were surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. And while chemotherapy and radiation therapy was tailored and targeted as much as possible to an individual's disease, there is no way to eliminate the often significant negative side effects, complications, and local injury these treatments can cause.
