    Under the Labor party governments of Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard between 2007 and 2013, Australia succeeded in anchoring its relations with China on mutually beneficial grounds. While reaping the economic upsides of the peaceful rise of China, Australia also hedged against a situation where an emergent China might mean political domination in the region, which could be perceived as detrimental to Australia’s national interests.     Yukon NDP Leader Kate White said Wednesday that a private member's bill aimed at tightening rules for political donations is not the one she'll "take to the finish line."The party introduced Bill 309 on Monday. If passed, it would amend the territory's Elections Act to ban political donations from people living outside the Yukon, as well as from businesses, corporations, industry associations, unions and professional organizations.

    South Korean battery manufacturer SK On has secured the option to source natural graphite anode products from US-based mineral company Westwater Resources through a conditional offtake agreement.     Australian producer Pacific Nickel Mines will load its first shipment of 60,000t of nickel ore to mining firm Glencore next week. The nickel ore from Pacific Nickel Mines' Kolosori project on Solomon Islands' Isabel island will first be loaded onto four 3,000t barges that will send the ore to Glencore, which has scheduled a transport ship that is likely to arrive on 19 December, Pacific Nickel Mines said on 14 December. The average nickel grade is expected to be over 1.75pc.
