While Peninsula House may be a fine-casual restaurant, it’s designed to feel like a second home. ‘We wanted a convivial space where diners feel connected to one another,’ says Teow. Wunderwall achieved this by opening up the kitchen and breaking up the expansive 550-square-metre floor plate into different zones: dark-stained wood for the bar, round tables for the main dining room and a raised platform that offers guests a unique vantage point.

When it comes to getting a caffeine fix in Singapore, you won’t ever be found wanting. This island nation has a storied history with Nanyang coffee (locally referred to as kopi), where robusta beans are roasted with sugar and margarine for a caramelly and creamy cup, and rounded out with condensed or evaporated milk. In the 2000s, third-wave coffee surged in Singapore and the specialty scene has never looked back.

The Southeast Asian design showcase Emerge @ Find returned to Singapore Design Week in September, with the third edition featuring over 60 designers from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. This year’s show highlighted several recent design graduates, some of them having never presented work outside of their homeland.
