    On the 400th anniversary of the election of Maffeo Barberini as Pope Urban VIII, an exhibition at Palazzo Barberini, Rome, has brought together examples of the spectacular patronage of the arts for which he and his three nephews were responsible.In 1625, two years after he had been elected as Pope Urban VIII, Maffeo Barberini (1568–1644) made the unusual decision to leave Rome’s densely populated Campus Martius and to build a new family palace on the Quirinal Hill.
