York Region Public Health has charged the Vaughan location of Indian restaurant chain Daal Roti for multiple violations related to maintenance last week. The Indian chain restaurant faced charges for not maintaining the premises with clean floors in the food-handling room and not maintaining floors in good repair in the food-handling room. Inspectors issued a ticket to the location at units 51-52, 9100 Jane St., where temporary corrective measures were implemented.

Climate Action Newmarket-Aurora is hoping to persuade Newmarket council to speak out about new provincial development legislation. The advocacy group is presenting to council tomorrow, June 2, to address issues it sees with Bill 5 and Bill 17 introduced by the provincial government and the possible environmental ramifications. Council will also consider a below three per cent tax rate increase target for its next budget and confirm other resolutions.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons Ontario (CPSO) has suspended a Newmarket doctor amid a medical investigation. The CPSO suspended Dr. Stefan Joseph Konasiewicz on May 12, who was working in the pain clinic at York Medical in Newmarket at 17730 Leslie St. The college suspended him under an interim order during the ongoing investigation. No allegations against Konasiewicz have been proven or tested in a court of law.
