BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among women in the United States. Past research has highlighted the importance of the relationship between female-specific demographics and traditional risk factors. The present analysis aimed to identify the prevalence of modifiable risk factors in women attending a community cardiovascular health screening. METHODS: Data collected between 2011 and 2019 were obtained from the Houston HeartReach Registry.

In the July 2023 issue of the Journal, then Editor-in-Chief (EIC) Daniel Goldstein announced that he would be stepping down from his role for health reasons. Daniel had been diagnosed with an advanced salivary gland malignancy and felt his medical condition was incompatible with the rigors of serving JHLT and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) to his characteristically demanding standard.
