To cheer myself up ahead of what I expect to be an uninspiring or even ugly presidential debate tonight, I went to see the new "Reagan" biopic starring Dennis Quaid. Every once in a while, it’s good to be reminded of the best of America, and for my money, Ronald Reagan was the greatest president in my lifetime – and the greatest since his own boyhood hero, Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Kamala Harris will beat Donald Trump hands down at next Tuesday’s debate if she focuses on her agenda for the future – and brushes off her opponent’s misogynistic and racist attacks with ridicule and even some humor. It’s hard to believe it’s been just over two months since a visibly aged President Joe Biden lost his bearings and cratered in the last debate, and weeks later, dropped out of the race – to the Republicans’ consternation and Trump’s fury.
