    The Eagle River City Council unanimously granted permission to the Eagle River Revitalization Program (ERRP) to apply for a $50,000 Vibrant Spaces Grant on behalf of the city for a “placemaking” project for a Highway 45 multi-use crossing. The Vibrant Spaces Grant is offered through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) to support the enhancement of a community’s public spaces.

    While Senator Tammy Baldwin (D) retained her seat in the U.S. Senate, Republicans have taken control of the Senate after gaining four seats following the general election this past Tuesday, Nov. 5. Along with having a Senate majority, it seems like the GOP will also be taking control of the U.S. House of Representatives, holding 214 seats to the 203 Democratic seats as of Monday, Nov. 11. A party needs 218 seats to have control in the House, and 50 in the Senate.

    Incumbent Rob Swearingen of Rhinelander defeated Democratic challenger Dennis Nitzel, Sr. in the 34th Assembly race, 64% to 35%, marking the beginning of his seventh term in office following the Tuesday, Nov. 5, general election. Across the district, Swearingen secured just over 64% of the vote with 25,039 votes over Nitzel at 14,027. Republican Mary Felzkowski of Tomahawk was also able to retain her 12th State Senate District seat from Democratic challenger Andi Rich of Porterfield 67% to 32%.
