Six nuns from the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Anne were kidnapped Jan. 19 while traveling on a bus in the country's capital, Port-au-Prince, according to the Haitian Conference of Religious. Other passengers on the bus also were taken in the abduction, the conference said in a statement. When I learned that Global Sisters Report has been featuring articles about regenerative agriculture, I wanted to share my experience here in Kenya of a new way of farming that my congregation, the Sisters of St Joseph of Tarbes, is piloting. The method is called permaculture. Permaculture has three core values: care of the earth, care of people and fair sharing, which encourages farmers to share what they produce.
