    Emergency services have rescued a man from the bottom of a 30-metre deep sinkhole in the centre of Mount Gambier, in South Australia's south east. Police, State Emergency Service and Metropolitan Fire Service crews attended the Cave Garden about 8:45am, following reports the man had fallen in and was stuck at the base. Crews used a ladder, drone and specialised equipment to rescue the man, which took about two hours.

The ship carried early Chinese migrants to South Australia, who walked overland to the Victorian goldfields. It's taken researchers nearly three years to find it, because it's been buried beneath the seabed.     The owner of one of the Limestone Coast's most popular diving spots has joined a world-famous cave diver in calling for more action to be taken to preserve water levels in the region's sinkholes and wetlands. The concerns raised by Kilsby Sinkhole owner Graham Kilsby and cave diver Richard Harris come after one of the driest years on record in South Australia's south-east. Their concerns are also amid a review of water allocations that has pitted environmentalists against farmers and foresters.

    Tickets for flights out of the biggest city in regional South Australia will rise by an "unsustainable" $90 if the council is not able to get assistance to pay for installing security screening.     A woman has been taken to hospital after being struck by lightning during severe thunderstorms in South Australia's south east overnight. Emergency services were called to Rocky Camp just before 10pm, following reports of an electrocution. The SA Ambulance Service said the 36-year-old was struck by lightning near Millicent during the storm and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Dry lightning across South Australia's South East overnight also sparked close to 100 fires.
