Super Mario 64's star select screen has a secret counter that's keeping track of frames. If that counter is left to run for two and a quarter years, the counter overflows and plummets to negative two billion. It will then start counting to zero from there, meaning it will take another two and a quarter years before you can select a star. Hard to believe, but almost 30 years after its release, people are still making discoveries about Super Mario 64.

A designer at id Software has shared screenshots from a Quake project they were working on. The project is a reimagining of the original Quake with Doom assets folded into it. If there were ever plans to fully realize this project, they appear to have been scrapped years ago. It's been a while since we had a proper, single-player installment in the Quake series. 20 years this year, as a matter of fact, since the launch of Quake 4.
