One fan learnt the hard way that if you’re going to give advice from the sidelines, then you have to be able to back it up. That’s what happened to one eager spectator at Wimbledon back in 2017 during a Invitation Doubles match between Kim Clijsters and Rennae Stubbs vs Conchita Martinez and Andrea Jaeger. Clijsters had asked teammate Stubbs about where she should aim her next serve when the fan chipped in with his opinion.

Wyndham Clark has apologised for smashing up the locker room at Oakmont following a meltdown at the US Open. Images appeared on social media of damaged lockers last weekend, with 2023 champion Clark reportedly the culprit. And he has now taken responsibility for the damage, apologising as he spoke on the matter for the first time on Thursday. Clark missed the cut at Oakmont in Pennsylvania after shooting a four-over-par 74 in both the first and second rounds.

Charlton Athletic managing director Jim Rodwell admitted the club could one-day leave The Valley. The south London stadium is not currently owned by The Addicks, but is still under the control of much-maligned former owner Roland Duchatelet. Duchatelet sold the club to East Street Investments in 2019, but retained ownership of The Valley and the club’s Sparrows Lane training base in Eltham.

England’s World Cup winning coach from 2003, Sir Clive Woodward, led the team in their first tour of New Zealand since 1993. There was a huge amount of talent and experience at his disposal, so all signs pointed to a competitive Test series at the very least. First, though, the Lions had to play against Argentina in a match designed to help cover the £10m cost of the tour.

The eyes of the world are on SW19 for two weeks of the year when the best tennis players in the world compete at the only grass court Grand Slam. Many would argue Wimbledon is the most prestigious of all four major titles and that brings with it plenty of pressure. Now we’ve all lost our rag on the tennis court, but perhaps not as badly as Tarango did back in 1995.
