Photo by Jesse D. Garrabrant/NBAE via Getty Images It is incredible how many ways Al Horford continues to hurt this franchise. Anyone here likely doesn’t need the reminder, but the Sixers lose their upcoming first-round pick if it does not fall within the top-six. This is the result of a salary dump trade to get off of Horford’s contract in 2020. The only thing that could be worse than the season Philadelphia just had would be walking away with absolutely nothing to show for it.

Photo by Scott Taetsch/Getty Images Get it? Because he does podcasts? The addition of Paul George to the core of Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid prompted Sixers’ governor Josh Harris to proclaim this was the most talented team of his tenure. Then everything went wrong. Not only did Embiid’s knee injury become such a constant issue that he was never able to play full time, but George hyper-extended his knee in his second preseason game as a Sixer.

Photo by Mitchell Leff/Getty Images So, obviously the season grade for these guys is supposed to come at the end of these things, but there’s no other reasonable way to categorize Joel Embiid’s 2024-25 season other than incomplete. Fighting swelling in his left knee, he was never able to play more than four games in a row, appearing in just 19 total. A season after averaging more points than minutes played, he dropped to 23.8 points per game.

Photo by Ronald Cortes/Getty Images An unfortunate end to one of the greatest coaching careers of all time. The NBA Playoffs continue to pick up as the second round is set to get underway. With it there’s been plenty of news surrounding teams that are still playing and those who are already looking forward to next year. So it’s time for another look around what’s going on in the Association. It is at least good to hear that Gregg Popovich will still be pretty involved with the team.
