    A fourth man has been charged with murder over the death of Zachery Davies-Scott, a young father from the NSW Hunter region. Police have been investigating an alleged home invasion and fatal shooting since December 27, 2022, in which 25-year-old Davies-Scott was killed. Police allege a group of people forced their way into a home in Heddon Greta, about 20 kilometres from Cessnock. Davies-Scott was fatally shot in what police allege was a robbery gone wrong.

    A local planning panel for the City of Sydney council has blocked a plan to open a new McDonald's restaurant in the inner city. Police and members of the community opposed the opening of a new restaurant in Redfern, partly over fears it could increase violence and crime in the area. At a council meeting last night, the Local Planning Council voted unanimously to block a development application from McDonald's for a store on Redfern Street.

    A baby bottle warmer has been recalled over fears it could overheat and catch fire while in use. Product Safety Australia warned the Cherub Baby Anywhere Warmer Pro posed a "risk of serious injury, death or property damage if the bottle warmer overheats and catches fire."The watchdog said that an incident of the bottle warmer catching fire had already occurred. Anyone with the product should stop using it immediately.

    A mother has been charged with three counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder after a fire tore through a home in Toowoomba, Queensland, killing three of her children. Seven people were inside a home in Harristown when a fire broke out about 12.30am on Wednesday, May 7. A 36-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man, along with four children, escaped the blaze. The body of a nine-year-old boy was found inside after firefighters extinguished the blaze.

    Four 15-year-old boys have been arrested after a series of alleged carjackings in Melbourne's north-west last night. Reports reached police about 11pm last night that a group of three teenagers demanded a man hand over his car on Timbertop Parade in Aintree. Police said that despite the three teenagers allegedly being armed with "edged weapons", the man refused to hand over the vehicle. The car's owner was allegedly assaulted, with the teens running from the scene.
