Last orders will be held at more JD Wetherspoons pubs in the coming months - but some might soon be opening near you. The popular chain shut 26 of its pubs across the country between 2023 and 2024. But the pub and restaurant chain has long made clear its goal of opening 1,000 branches across Britain. Spoons revealed Tuesday it plans to open 15 new pubs after seeing like-for-like sales at its pubs jump by 15% in the 13 weeks to April.

NatWest, a 57-year-old UK bank with more than 19million customers, will close dozens of branches this year. NatWest Group, which also owns Royal Bank of Scotland and Ulster Bank, has closed 1,431 branches since January 2015. This includes 48 branches that shuttered last year, following 20 in 2023. At least 53 will follow suit this year - next month alone, 25 will have the shutters pulled down one last time.

Passengers travelling on the London Underground this morning are in for headaches this morning with two major lines delayed. The Elizabeth Line has been experiencing severe delays since 6.50am. The disruption between Shenfield and Whitechapel is caused by Network Rail fixing equipment damaged by vandalism. Transport for London (TfL) says tickets will be accepted on the Tube 'by any reasonable route'. There is good service on the rest of the line.

Thousands of packets of crisps are being urgently recalled over fears they will cause swelling and hives. Food safety officials say the snack is a 'possible health risk'. Ottolenghi, an Israeli restaurant chain, has issued a recall on its Vadouvan spiced pita chips. The dipping chips may contain celery and mustard, which aren't mentioned on the label, posing a risk to anyone allergic to them.
