BERLIN, Ohio — The Notre Dame basketball team got off to an even better start. The Eagles were quick out of the gate Sunday against Warrensville Heights, but roared out quickly Monday against Kettering Fairmont. It was needed. NDA didn't have much go wrong the first 12 minutes of the game, but struggled with turnovers from there. Yet, the Eagles were able to persevere and top the Firebirds 54-42 at Classic in the Country at Hiland High School. Notre Dame (12-4) finished with 29 turnovers.

BERLIN, Ohio — Notre Dame wanted to establish its game plan first, and the Eagles were able to do that quickly. The Eagles led wire-to-wire Sunday, topping Warrensville Heights 56-30 at Classic in the Country at Hiland High School. Notre Dame (11-4) led 5-0 and 8-2 early. The Eagles pushed the lead as big as 15-4 as NDA was able to slow down a fast Warrensville Heights (14-2) team from the get-go. "It was an interesting start for us," NDA coach Travis Galloway said.

BERLIN, Ohio — Elise Bender had a black eye before the game even started. The Anthony Wayne senior is as tough as they come and the game against Mason was just as physical as the Generals' contest Saturday against Green. A collision in the fourth quarter did little to slow down Bender as she racked up 27 points and 11 rebounds. "She's super tough," Anthony Wayne coach Jami Carter said. "She's one of the toughest kids I've ever had the opportunity to coach. She really is a good leader.

BERLIN, Ohio — It looked like Elise Bender had drawn the foul. Twice she went up and was battered in the third quarter, but no whistle was blown. Bender took things into her own hands with a steal just as Green started to the move the ball up the floor. She then knocked down the five-foot jumper, as it was that kind of day for Anthony Wayne. The Generals led wire-to-wire, topping Green 68-38 at Classic in the Country at Hiland High School on Saturday.

CLYDE, Ohio — Ultimately, the slow start was too much to overcome. The Eastwood football team stumbled out of the gate, and before the Eagles knew it, they trailed by three touchdowns. Fifth-seeded Eastwood played even ball the final 26 minutes of the game, but the slow start cost it in a 49-28 Division V, Region 18 loss to top-seeded Milan Edison at Clyde High School. The Eagles finish the season with a 10-2 record. Eastwood was runner-up in the Northern Buckeye Conference this year.
