MANHATTAN (CN) — Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old Maryland man charged in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December, asked a federal judge on Friday to preclude the U.S. government from seeking the death penalty in his murder and terror case. “These are not normal times,” Mangione’s attorney Karen Friedman Agnifilo wrote in a 27-page court filing, bristling at what they argue is the Trump administration’s prejudicial mishandling of Mangione’s federal case.
