The Minnesota Twins have demoted struggling outfielder and first baseman Alex Kirilloff. The former top prospect has struggled with injuries in the past but, despite avoiding the injured list so far this year, has struggled at the plate this season, hitting .201 with five home runs, 20 RBI, 15 walks and 47 strikeouts in 178 plate appearances. Thursday, the Twins sent the 26-year-old to Triple-A St. Paul to try to get back on track.

Emergency crews were called to a home in the 1500 block of 21st Avenue Northwest just after 2 a.m. after neighbors reported smoke and flames coming from the home, authorities say. According to New Brighton Public Safety, firefighters pulled two women from the home and brought them to a hospital. However, the department said Thursday that both died. They were identified as 37-year-old Maya Davies and 78-year-old Diana Davies.

The University of St. Thomas has released new renderings of the multi-use sports arena that is expected to open late next year. The Lee and Penny Anderson Arena was announced more than a year ago and remains on track to open for the 2025-26 school year on St. Thomas’ South Campus, school leaders say. However, the university is now giving a new look at what the arena is expected to look like inside.

The NFL has announced its punishment for the Atlanta Falcons following an investigation into tampering allegations during free agency. Thursday, the league announced it will dock Atlanta its 2025 fifth-round draft pick, fine the team $250,000 and fine the club’s general manager $50,000 for violating league policy in contract discussions with former Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins as well as wide receiver Darnell Mooney and tight end Charlie Woerner.

The schedule for the second season of the Keegan Cook era is now set. The University of Minnesota volleyball program announced its 2024 season schedule on Wednesday, although game times and broadcast information will be released at a later date. Minnesota is set to start the campaign with the inaugural Intersport Women’s Volleyball Showcase on Sept. 1 and 2, with matchups against Stanford on the first day and the defending national champions, Texas, on Day 2.

The Minnesota Twins have brought back reliever Jay Jackson ahead of Wednesday’s series finale against Colorado. Jackson was one of the Twins’ few offseason additions but struggled out of the gates, going 1-2 with a 6.85 ERA over 22.1 innings. He was designated for assignment and sent to Triple-A St. Paul on May 19. Since that time, he’s appeared in just three games for the Saints, giving up one run across three innings while striking out two.

Minnesota Vikings training camp is just over six weeks away and its schedule is now set. This year’s camp schedule features nine practices open to fans from July 27 through Aug. 8. All practices are free for season ticket members and attendees under 18 or $5 for adults, except for the night practice on Aug. 5, which will cost $10 for adults and $5 for those under 18 (kids under 3 feet tall are free). Anyone wanting to attend a practice must have a digital ticket ahead of time to get in.
