The Trump administration is probing whether imported aircraft, jet engines and parts represent a threat to national security, a precursor to imposing new tariffs targeting the commercial aerospace industry. The Commerce Department announced the investigation, which started May 1, in a Friday filing. The probe targets commercial aircraft and jet engines as well as components according to the filing. The department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
