The Precinct is set in Averno City, an amalgam of New York and Detroit. The time is the early 1980s. Trash is in the streets. The walls are raw with graffiti, and the roads are puddled and pocked. The place brings to mind Stilwater, the setting of the first Saints Row, which was brightly lit and brought low by corruption. We get that same plain sun falling here, and the same sense of a nice-enough place gnawed on by vice, so that even its facades have started to scab.

Haunting Ground was released in 2005, on the PlayStation 2, and then proceeded to not be released for the next twenty years. Rumours abound of its availability on the Japanese PlayStation Network store, but only via a PlayStation 3. Otherwise, a physical copy, sufficiently mothballed, is likely to cost you around two hundred pounds. Unavailability is, of course, a great boon to a legend.

I like mechs. Do you like mechs? What’s not to like about mechs? You strap yourself into a vast shell of mean-looking metal and clomp about like Ripley at the end of Aliens. Moreover, you get to unleash salvos of missiles, whether they be strapped chicly to your wrist, like a string of firecrackers, or mounted onto your back in a mini-silo. Plus, you get to zoom about the place with rocket-boosted feet.

Ubisoft has unveiled its upcoming DLC for The Division 2, entitled Battle for Brooklyn, with a new trailer. We also have a look at the game’s year seven road map, at some of the updates we can expect. These include a host of new customisation options, weapons, and events. Weapon stats and resource boosts will be introduced, along with expanded stash space, and a slew of other additions. Battle for Brooklyn, meanwhile, is a standalone DLC, and it’s set after the events of the Warlords of New York.

Developer Necrosoft Games has released a new trailer for Demonschool, a Persona-inspired R.P.G. coming to consoles this summer. The game has you enrolling at a prestigious university, only to find that a demonic apocalypse may be in the offing. Necrosoft has some intriguing influences, as well, counting not just Persona and Shin Megami Tensei but Italian horror cinema as inspirations.

Ready or Not, the tense tactical first-person shooter that channels the energy of the SWAT games, is coming to consoles. The game came out on PC in 2023 and has mustered a devoted player base, keen on its punishing, tense action. This version will feature crossplay, Xbox and PlayStation players to team up.

Saber Interactive has released a new trailer for its upcoming reboot of Painkiller, the cult 2000s PC shooter. The new game, entitled simply Painkiller, is a fresh start for the series. It has you trapped in Purgatory and charged with killing an awful lot of demons, as was the style back in 2004 and as is style still. Naturally, the new game has to feature a slew of cool weapons.

Developer FuturLab has revealed more of PowerWash Simulator 2, with a trailer that gives us a glimpse at what to expect. Namely, a lot more high-pressure nozzle action, as we're tasked with once again hosing down filthy surfaces to reveal the clean veneers beneath. It's the very definition of good clean fun. In the sequel, we can expect an HQ, which we can furnish as we go; a fruity truck, and split-screen co-op play – all of which sound like exciting developments.
