    Middlesbrough-based haulage company AV Dawson Transport, part of AV Dawson Group, has undertaken a pilot of a fully electric heavy goods vehicle (HGV) as part of its net zero efforts. The pilot, which was completed in partnership with e-fleet solutions provider VEV, saw a 42-tonne, fully electric HGV complete over 1,800 miles (2,896.8 km) over 42 journeys, which resulted in a reduction in emissions of 2.3 tonnes from a single vehicle in 10 days.

    John Denholm has been named chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) following unanimous recommendation from the board of ICS, succeeding Emanuele Grimaldi from June 2026. Denholm, who currently serves as board member for the UK and vice chair of ICS, will begin the role once Grimaldi’s term concludes at the ICS AGM in June 2026. Denholm is also the chairman of shipping, logistics, seafoods, and industrial services firm J. & J. Denholm.

    Described as the ‘missing piece of the puzzle’, heavy haulier Collett & Sons has added a 350-tonne capacity modular side girder bridge system (SGB) from Germany-based manufacturer Greiner to its fleet. Bolstering Collett & Sons’ high and heavy cargo handling capabilities, the SGB will initially be deployed for a long-term contract moving transformers from Stafford to Ellesmere port, both in the UK.

Vernazza Autogru has added an AC 7.450-1, AC 6.300-1, AC 4.080-1, and an AC 4.070-2 to its fleet – deals which were tied up at bauma 2025 in Munich, Germany. “We’ve worked closely with Tadano for many years, and this latest delivery confirms why.
