Heat acclimation (HA) programmes are used to attenuate the reduction in performance when competing in hot and humid conditions. These programmes typically last 7–14 days and require athletes to physically train in an environmental chamber under hot and/or humid conditions. The novel aspect of this case study is the presentation of the real-world practicalities of implementing a mixed-methods HA programme concurrently alongside the in-season schedule of a professional referee.
