One of sport’s biggest power couples appears to have called full-time on their relationship. According to reports in Germany, World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger and former tennis world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic have split after nine years of marriage. Ex-Manchester United midfielder Schweinsteiger, 40, and wife Ivanovic, 37, ended their relationship two months ago according to German outlet Bunte.

IMANE KHELIF has revealed plans to compete in a different weight class at the 2028 Olympics after changes to the rules for the Los Angeles Games. Khelif, 25, is setting out to win a second gold medal after she found herself at thecentre of a gender row along with Taiwan's Lin Yu-Ting at the Paris Gameslast summer. Khelif and Lin's participation at Paris 2024 - where they won welterweight and featherweight gold respectively - sparked international outrage.

RUSSELL WILSON is already showing his commitment to the New York Giants after his move to the franchise last month. Wilson, 36, agreed at one-year $10.5m deal with the Giants after leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers at the end of the 2024 season. The Super Bowl XLVII champion isn't due to start his offseason preparations with the Giants until next week, but has given a glimpse into his dedication by starting his grind early.

SAM DARNOLD has already settled into life as a Seattle Seahawk, not least because of a familiar face in Washington. Darnold, 27, is working alongside offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak at the Seahawks, someone who he already spent time with during his stint with the San Francisco 49ers. Kubiak and Darnold were both with the 49ers during the 2023 season and Darnold reckons that their experience together is only going to help him do big things with the Seahawks.

The Red Bull driver edged out Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri the same way he did in qualifying as he won his fourth consecutive Japanese Grand Prix - the first driver in history to do so at Suzuka. Verstappen had earned pole position in qualification by setting an "incredibly rewarding" record lap round the Suzuka Circuit.
