Texas based electric vehicle (EV) start-up Canoo announced last week that it was filing for bankruptcy and would immediately cease operations. Founded in 2017 as Evelozcity, the company was renamed in 2019 with a goal of “reinventing the automotive landscape with bold innovations in design, pioneering technologies, and a unique business model that spans all owners in the full lifecycle of the electric vehicle”.

Californian electric carmakers Aptera Motors and Telo Trucks have announced a partnership to introduce integrated solar panel options for the Telo MT1, billed as the world’s most efficient EV pickup. The two carmakers, both based in California and both aiming to reinvent electrified driving, announced late last week that they would partner to provide up to three solar panel kits for the Telo MT1.

Even though new car sales in Norway barely topped the numbers seen in 2023, electric vehicles (EVs) nevertheless continued to dominate, accounting for 89 per cent of all new passenger car sales throughout 2024. New figures published earlier this month by the Opplysningsrådet for veitrafikken (OFV), Norway’s Road Traffic Information Council, revealed that sales of new passenger vehicles in 2024 hit 128,691, only 1.4 per cent up on 2023.

The first set of keys were handed over in Brisbane in partnership with BYD’s exclusive Australian distributor, EVDirect. Australia’s Capital Territory is celebrating a significant electric vehicle (EV) milestone, announcing last week that it had registered over 10,000 EVs.The Australian Electric Vehicle Association (AEVA) confirmed that the ACT had reached the 10,000 EV milestone in the first week of December, with EV numbers increasing from 400 to 10,000 in under five years. “Electric vehicles are now fimly part of the Canberra landscape,” said Paul Wayper, ACT branch advocacy lead at the AEVA.
