Since its release in 2009, Avatar has been the centerpiece of one of the most common clarifications in all of pop culture. Almost anytime anyone mentions either James Cameron's sci-fi film or Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko's beloved animated series, they must quickly note which one they're referring to. Everyone has heard some variation of "the one about people who can control elements, not the one about blue cat aliens" or vice versa.

The Legend of Zelda is one of those double-edged sword properties when it comes to Hollywood film adaptations. On the one hand, fans have waited decades to see a lot of the iconography on the big screen. On the other, big film budgets come with a lot of unnecessary friction. Tons of fans feared the worst when Nintendo announced their Zelda film would be live-action.

The Amateur dares to ask a bizarre question: Who can kill people in movies? Can soft-spoken, nebbish, straight-laced Rami Malek terminate the lives of half a dozen thinking, feeling humans, or is that territory exclusively occupied by macho John Berenthal and practiced professional Laurence Fishburne? This is genuinely the entire moral dilemma of this film. At no point does it meaningfully reckon with whether someone should hunt and kill a bunch of criminals.

Zach Cregger became a horror icon overnight, and now he has Resident Evil in his sights. The iconic series has undergone several evolutions in its native medium, but its on-screen portrayal has always lacked something critical. Of all the video game movies out there, Capcom's series seems to come back again and again, no matter how rough the last one turned out. Still, Cregger seems like a massive fan and a perfect visionary to helm the project.

The Star Wars franchise is well-known for its iconic villains. The original trilogy introduced Darth Vader, one of the most beloved antagonists ever to grace the silver screen. Even the prequels found some fun in Count Dooku and General Grievous as they slowly turned Anakin into the aforementioned dark lord. Off the big screen, Star Wars novels invented countless wild threats, many of which could have wiped out the universe if left unchecked.
