Drew Sebastian is pretty much a household name in Gayland! I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Drew for the past five years, and this man exudes sex appeal, charisma, and a likability that makes even women swoon. Over the years I’ve been able to spend quality time and get to know the man outside of his role in the adult industry, and that man is Andrew Clements. We are teaming up for the first time this holiday season with our show “Cozy Little Christmas” at Reforma in Palm Springs.

“I could be wrong now. But I don’t think so.” So laments Randy Newman’s wickedly despairing theme song, “It’s a Jungle Out There,” from the old TV series Monk. The American right is engaged in a complicated and increasingly dirty conflict. On one side is the new right, committed to political populism, the hostile takeover of the state, and more communitarian economic policies. Religious freedom protections at the federal level have been bolstered in the last few years by Supreme Court rulings that have provided much more common sense readings of the free exercise and free speech clauses of the Constitution as well as federal statutory law. These are welcome developments for advocates of liberty. It is important to note, however, that even at their best, federal protections for civil liberties provide a floor for the protection of individual liberty.

I explore in my book, The Soul of Civility: Timeless Principles to Heal Society and Ourselves, that too often today, we reduce people to one aspect of who they are. We define them by their worst trait or mistake—something they said or did, which they probably regret, but which, thanks to the internet and social media, has been immortalized and widely circulated. It is time that we start “unbundling” people. Our current culture views the world and people through a cheapened simplicity.
