Mr. Taofeeq Sokumbi, the Osun Sector Commander, revealed the details in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo. Sokumbi explained that the accident occurred opposite Joseph Ayo Babalola University and was caused by excessive speeding, which resulted in the fatalities.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), on Friday, confirmed the death of a driver who was involved in a road traffic accident around Mangoro area of the state. The Permanent Secretary of the agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Oke-Osanyintolu said the articulated truck collided with the minibus, while smashing it into the fence of a nearby shopping complex.

Osun state government has beefed up Security as the annual Osun-Osogbo festival begins to come to a close on Friday. It was reported that there was heavy presence of officers from the Nigerian police force, Nigeria Security and Defence Corps and Joint Security Taskforce, stationed at the entrance of the groove. Men of the Odua People’s Congress (OPC), and that of the Nigeria Hunters Group were also seen with firearms within the groove to maintain law and order.

Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun has urged the End Bad Governance protesters in the state to embrace dialogue in order to achieve their demands. Adeleke gave the charge while addressing the protesters at the state government secretariat on Tuesday in Osogbo.
