ATD Sale Is Complete - With New Leadership

American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) says it has completed the sale of "substantially all of its assets" and for the first time the company has outlined the company's new leadership, which includes some familiar industry names. Ira Silver, the former president and CEO of Max Finkelstein Inc. before it was acquired by U.S. AutoForce in 2022, will serve as president and CEO of the new company — which will retain the ATD name. Silver's appointment is effective immediately, ATD said in a news release.

The 2024 bankruptcy of American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) forced an amendment to the company’s agreement and payment plan to Monro Inc. for the wholesale distribution operation ATD purchased two years earlier. Monro was still owed nearly $7 million. Attorneys for Monro filed an objection in ATD’s bankruptcy case in December, noting the retailer was still owed $6,948,086.

Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. achieved record highs in all profit categories in 2024, with double-digit gains. Business profit in tires grew by 38.2%. Sales for the year grew to $6.95 billion, up 11% from the previous year. Yokohama’s tire sales increased 12.1% during the year, to $6.22 billion. Tires accounted for 89.6% of Yokohama’s consolidated sales revenue for the year. Business profit for the entire company increased 35.6% to $853.2 million, while operating profit was up 18.7%.
