You know who you are, and I love you!)Bella, our German Shepherd, continues to think she is the guardian of the chicken flock, which is a very good thing, because we have hawks and the occasional owl. But she makes me laugh when she shares their morning dose of fresh herbs from the garden. We love Pickles. Really, everyone loves Pickles.

Late last night, the Ninth Circuit entered its decision in the case involving whether Donald Trump’s federalization of the National Guard was lawful. It went largely as we thought it would after the oral argument last week, a 3-0 opinion in Trump’s favor. Never one to show restraint, within the hour, Trump took to Truth Social to congratulate the Ninth Circuit. “America is proud of you tonight,” he wrote, which was probably enough to make all three of the judges ill.

Tonight, I want to focus on a case you probably haven’t heard about, California v. Department of Transportation. It was brought by Democratic state attorneys general from across the country in the District of Rhode Island. Today, District Judge John McConnell, Jr., dealt the Trump administration a major loss in the case, which will stymie its efforts to coerce states into supporting its immigration policies.

I’ve made no secret of my friendship with E. Jean Carroll, carefully mentioning it on television while her defamation case was in progress. I wanted to make sure people understood that although I always try to be fair and honest with my legal analysis, I’m not exactly unbiased when it comes to E. Jean. She is a knitter, she loves cats and dogs, she’s recently taken up gardening, and she is the most enthusiastic, supportive friend you could ask for.
