    Another rainy, cloudy weekend is in store for the Jersey shore. The National Weather Service forecasts a coastal low pressure system passing through the region, bringing rain Friday and Saturday, and leaving some lingering showers for Sunday. Rain will creep into the region little by little starting on Thursday. Friday and Saturday will be the rainiest days with rainfall totals below 1.5 inches for most of the state.

    Congress finalized a vote Wednesday upending a rule that barred banks from charging high overdraft fees. Under a 2024 rule issued by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), large banks were prohibited from charging consumers the typical $35 per overdraft transaction. Instead, overdraft fees were capped at $5 in most cases. But Wednesday’s bill, once signed by President Donald Trump, gives banks back the power to assess heavy fees.

The order requires both the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Homeland Security to submit a report with an update on conditions at the border and recommendations on whether the invocation of the Insurrection Act might be necessary.

    The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning for most of Delaware, areas of New Jersey, New York City and parts of Long Island. On Tuesday night into Wednesday, below-freezing temperatures as low as 28 are expected. The frost could kill crops, sensitive vegetations and damage outdoor plumbing. In Delaware, the advisory goes to Kent and Inland Sussex counties; in New Jersey, Union, Essex and Hudson counties are under the advisory.
