Parallel circulation represents a unique circulatory physiology in which the systemic saturation is dependent on a weighted average of the systemic and pulmonary venous saturations. The weights for this average depend on the relative proportion of blood flow going to the pulmonary and systemic circulations. This ratio of pulmonary and systemic blood flow is further dependent on the relative resistances in these two beds.

Monitoring of a venous saturation allows for the ability to identify inadequacy of systemic oxygen delivery and the increasing probability of morbidity and mortality in humans. Reference Ranucci, Isgro and Carlucci1–Reference Law, Benscoter and Borasino7 As venous saturation is one of the few components of the Fick equation for cardiac output, this should not be of surprise. However, monitoring a venous saturation can be invasive and costly and is thus not routinely done.

Estudiantes y también docentes han empezado a utilizar inteligencias artificiales para que les elaboren trabajos y tareas. Esta es la pequeña historia, como excusa pedagógica, de un corrector que tropezó con uno de estos textos. Recientemente, mientras corregía actividades, me encontré con una producción escrita que me llamó la atención. Esto fue en el contexto de una capacitación formal dictada a docentes en la que yo era el capacitador.
