    Last week’s column spoke about the decision process of choosing between aging at home and moving to an assisted living community. While I touched on financial implications and personal needs, these are only two factors — there are a number of other factors that may affect one’s decision. In both my personal and business experience, finances are at the pinnacle of the decision process. Thus, condensing such a complex matter into one column is not possible.

I speak from both personal experience and acquired experience over almost a decade and a half. This is what I have learned — the decision is personal and unique for everyone.  My mother had Parkinson’s. She passed away in 2019 just before the COVID pandemic.
