When European airline SAS, or Scandinavian Airlines, switched airline “alliance” in late 2024, it decided to make a song and dance about it, creating frequent flyer “millionaires” in the process. For 27 years, the airline had been part of the Star Alliance, an umbrella collection of 25 global carriers including stalwarts of the sky like United, Singapore Airlines and Ethiopian.
