Swiping through my socials, all platforms are inundated with similar clips which my online friends posted, now just flashing pixels that bring back memories of the night before. In the spring, Vancouver becomes the domain of the geese. I think this to myself as I dismount on the seawall’s shared path, carefully walking my bike around a flock of what must be 20 Canadian geese. Keeping watchful and beady eyes on my wheels, the birds remain stoic and whisper in squawks amongst each other. Their prehistoric webbed feet are tucked below a mangled blanket of dark feathers, with no plans to move—they’ve marked this plot of weather-worn bricks as their territory.
