    Residents in some New Hampshire school districts voted for major reductions to their school budgets earlier this year. Timberlane School District is over $6 million dollars and Merrimack Valley schools are cutting $2 million. As the school year comes to an end, two students reflect on how those cuts could affect them when they return to school in the fall. Abigail Robinson and Nicholas Gelinas are both high school juniors who served as the student representatives of their respective school boards.

In March, the Trump administration invoked a wartime law, the Alien Enemies Act, to deport Venezuelan citizens it has accused of being gang members. The administration’s use of the act and methods of deportation, have been challenged in court.

    The state of New Hampshire recently upped the amount that lawyers can get paid when they take on cases where defendants can’t afford an attorney. The hourly rate for assigned counsel from $90 to $125 for most cases, and from $125 to $150 for major crimes, this January. The pay increases are just one action to try and fix what is a longstanding problem: a lack of attorneys willing to take these cases.
