South Sudan appears to be getting back into America’s good graces after incurring the wrath of the Donald Trump administration over accepting Africans deported from the US. On 5 April, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on X that he was “immediately” moving to revoke visas for South Sudanese passport holders and restrict the issuance of new ones “due to the failure of South Sudan’s transitional government to accept the return of its repatriated citizens in a timely manner”.
