In 2000, Wood County had experienced four domestic violence murders in as many years. “It was a huge wake-up call for us as a community to realize this happens in our own backyards. and we needed to do better to support survivors of domestic violence,” said Cocoon Executive Director Kathy Mull.

From WOOD COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIESThe Wood County Special Olympics athletes are heading to the 2025 State Summer Games in Columbus. The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) will host a high-energy sendoff for the athletes on Friday at 8:30 a.m.at the Bocce Courts on the main campus, 1921 E. Gypsy Lane Rd., Bowling Green. Everyone is invited to join the celebratory sendoff. This year’s team includes 11 track athletes and four bocce athletes.

A new basketball court in Pemberville’s Memorial Park is a testament to Hal’s passion for sports, especially basketball, and their mutual commitment to the community. Village Mayor Carol Bailey and the community came together Monday night to dedicate the new court as the Moore Memorial Basketball Court in memory of Hal Moore, who passed away Jan. 29, 2024.
