Hundreds were gathered in the dark of evening before the looming edifice of the Basilica, as they have done night after night, to say the rosary to pray for the health of Pope Francis. Before the prayers began - news that Pope Francis had sent a recorded message from his hospital bed. In a weakened and faltering voice, a thank you from the 88-year-old for all the compassion and kindness shown to him.
